Commissions

Attention is the beginning of devotion. — Mary Oliver

Commissioning a piece with me is an act of connection and co-creation.

We begin with a series of conversations: what is meaningful to you, what experiences are you moving through, what intention would you like the piece to hold, where will it live.

What you share with me is as sacred as the art itself. Your story becomes part of my practice and it lives inside of me as I begin the process of gathering materials and foraging to make your custom ink.

Over a period of time, I gather what’s needed- sacred objects or materials from your life, foraged materials from the Land, the relevant plants and magickal goods from Elder Sisters Apothecary and other types of pigments and dyes. These materials become the medicine - the ink and the forms - that  express your intention, heal your heart, and transform your space.

Next, the forms are placed on the paper - the culmination and articulation of all that has been shared. Then begins the process of marking: thousands of small, deliberate lines, each one a breath, each one an act of kindness. This meditation in art form takes multiple sittings and can range from days to weeks to months to complete.

What emerges will be wholly yours. Not only a reflection of your story, but of all who you are and all of who you are becoming. A piece of sacred art to live in your home, in your sacred space, as a deep, continuous honoring of your life and your experience.

In our consultation, I will answer your questions, share details about timeline and pricing and determine if we would like to create together.

I am ready to hear your story.

In gratitude,

Choro

“This is my soul on a canvas of rough-edged rice paper. Choro, what you did… what we did together… has left an imprint on my heart and soul that I will carry with me well beyond my years here. Thank you for seeing me and envisioning her.” —Sarah H.

Like a tattoo, this work is deeply personal and intimate. In our consultation, I will answer any and all of your questions, share my pricing, and allow you to decide whether I am the right artist to do this deeply meaningful work.
